First Base Social Decks

peoria sports complex | peoria, arizona

Peoria Sports Complex has long served as one of the premier destinations in Arizona’s Cactus League, welcoming thousands of fans each spring as the shared spring training home of the San Diego Padres and Seattle Mariners. As fan expectations continue to evolve, the City of Peoria engaged Larimer Design to reimagine an underutilized seating area along the first base line and transform it into a vibrant social destination that enhances the spring training experience while creating new opportunities for premium hospitality and revenue generation.

The proposed improvements replace existing bleacher seating with a dynamic mix of fixed seating, flexible terraced gathering spaces, drink rails, social lounges, and hospitality-focused amenities designed to encourage interaction and extend dwell time throughout the game. Through detailed 3D modeling, sightline analysis, circulation studies, and stakeholder workshops, our team carefully evaluated how the new seating environment could seamlessly connect the existing grandstand to the elevated skybridge while improving accessibility, pedestrian flow, and operational flexibility.

The resulting concept creates an elevated social spring training experience that balances premium views, comfort, and connectivity with the architectural character of the existing stadium. Thoughtful integration of shade structures, gathering spaces, and fan-focused amenities transforms a previously overlooked portion of the ballpark into a memorable destination that supports both game-day enjoyment and long-term venue growth. By combining strategic planning with a deep understanding of sports venue design, Larimer Design helped position Peoria Sports Complex for the next generation of spring training fans while reinforcing its role as a flagship sports tourism asset for the City of Peoria and the greater West Valley.
