Concessions Improvements

Petco Park | San Diego, California

The San Diego Padres set out to make food and beverage more than a traditional ballpark amenity—it became an opportunity to create a distinctly San Diego experience. Larimer Design worked with the Padres to rethink concession environments throughout the ballpark, pairing targeted physical improvements with a more strategic approach to food, beverage, and hospitality.

Strategically curated partnerships with San Diego's favorite restaurateurs brought a distinctly local flavor to the ballpark, giving fans compelling reasons to visit beyond the game itself. From local craft beer to popular San Diego food concepts, the program created a more authentic connection between the ballpark and the community it serves.

The improvements also focused on how food and beverage could perform as a business asset. Targeted upgrades to existing concession locations improved the guest experience, strengthened operational functionality, and created opportunities to increase spending throughout the ballpark.

The result was a food-and-beverage program that became an integral part of the Petco Park experience—helping drive a significant increase in per-capita spending while contributing to the venue's transformation into one of Major League Baseball's most highly regarded fan destinations.

Petco Park demonstrates how strategic reinvestment in existing concessions can do more than improve what's being served. It can strengthen a venue's identity, create new reasons to visit, and turn food and beverage into a meaningful driver of fan engagement and revenue.
