ballpark improvements

America’s #1 ballpark is about to get even better! When Petco Park’s Park-at-the-Park was conceived in 1998, it was designed to provide three essential functions: an elevated grassy berm for families to enjoy watching games, a wiffle ball field for kids to play, and an outward-facing neighborhood park during non-gamedays. Fast forward to today, the current demands of the park have outpaced its infrastructure as Petco Park’s operation has matured.

In preparation for Petco Park’s twentieth anniversary, Gallagher Square (formerly Park-at-the-Park) will enjoy a complete makeover, including:

  • New Entry Gate at 9th Avenue and J Street

  • New Tony Gwynn Terrace viewing deck

  • New Concessions Stand

  • New Auxiliary Team Store

  • New Restrooms

  • New flexible-use civic plaza

  • Expanded Picnic Hill with improved sightlines into Peco Park

  • Relocated and improved wiffle ball field

  • New and improved, expanded playground and play area with equipment for a broader range of age groups and abilities

  • New fenced off-leash dog park

  • New Pickleball courts

  • New public art displays showcasing the talents of local artists

  • Improved, regionally-appropriate landscape palette
